Dr. Rigor’s medical journey began in Manila, Philippines, where he completed his undergraduate studies in Biology at Centro Escolar University from 1986 to 1990. He then pursued his medical degree at Fatima Medical Center, Manila, from 1990 to 1994. Seeking further training, Dr. Rigor moved to New York, USA, where he attended Brooklyn Hospital Center.

Following his medical school education, Dr. Rigor returned to the Philippines for an internship at the Philippine General Hospital in 1994-1995. His passion for dermatology led him to undertake a Dermatology Residency at Makati Medical Center from 1997 to 2000. This was the beginning of a career that would span multiple continents and specialties.

Advanced Training and Board Certifications

Dr. Rigor’s pursuit of excellence did not stop in the Philippines. He relocated to the United States, where he continued his dermatology residency, specializing in dermatologic surgery, at Community Health Partners Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, from 2001 to 2003. His commitment to expanding his expertise led him to complete an Internal Medicine Residency at St. Louis University/St. Mary’s Health Center in St. Louis, Missouri, from 2001 to 2006.

His quest for knowledge saw him further specialize in general dermatology at the Advanced Dermatology and Laser Center in Quad City, Iowa, from 2006 to 2008. Dr. Rigor is board-certified in Dermatology by both the American Board of Physician Specialties and the Philippine Dermatological Society, as well as in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Professional Experience and Leadership

Dr. Rigor’s professional experience is as diverse as his training. Since 2009, he has been involved in nursing home practice across multiple locations, servicing 200-300 facilities within metro Los Angeles. His leadership skills were recognized, leading to his appointment as Medical Director and President of Diamond Bar Dermatology & Laser Center and Rigor Dermatology & Laser Center. These centers, located in Diamond Bar and Pasadena, California, respectively, benefit from Dr. Rigor’s vast knowledge and patient care experience.

Academic Contributions and Teaching

Dr. Rigor is not only a practitioner but also a dedicated educator. He serves as a faculty member for various institutions, including the Skin & Cancer Foundation in the Philippines and the Philippine Academy of Cutaneous Surgery. In the United States, he contributes to the Huntington Hospital Internal Medicine Program, where he oversees the dermatology rotation for internal medicine residents and serves as the Section Chief in Dermatology.

Moreover, Dr. Rigor is involved in nurse practitioner training programs at Azusa Pacific University and Cal State Long Beach, ensuring the next generation of healthcare providers is well-versed in dermatology. His role as Section Chief in Dermatology extends to multiple healthcare and wellness centers, including Alhambra Healthcare and Wellness Center, Bell Convalescent Hospital, Brentwood Healthcare Center, and several others.
